Supporting the British Heart Foundation

Hi there,

I hope this all finds you well. This post is more to do with the fundraising that we are doing in the aid of the British Heart Foundation. In March of next year three member of the GiftsOnline4U team are planning to go to the Himalayas and trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in order to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. This trek will be gruelling and hard work but we want to give something back to the charity who does such wonderful things for so many people. The reason for this post is quite simply to see if you would like to donate to our cause? It’s probably a bit cheeky asking our readers to donate but we think that the British Heart Foundation are a really important charity and anything that we can do to help them we want to do! Here are some reasons why you should donate to the BHF:

- Every 2 minutes someone has a heart attack and only half survive

- Coronary heart disease claims around 94,000 lives each year

- Around 1 in 145 babies are born with congenital heart disease

- An estimated 2.5 million people in the UK live with heart disease

- Women are 3 times more likely to die of coronary heart disease than breast cancer

The money that you help to raise will enable the BHF to research and develop methods to help save lives, here are some of the ways that the money that you donate will help the BHF:

- Vital research into the causes of heart disease and attacks/preventions/medication

- The training and employment of BHF Heart nurses who provide care that improves the quality of life for heart patients

- Heart equipment

- Education/ Awareness campaigns

One important point to remember is that the team members involved in the trek will be funding the expense of the trek themselves so actually all the money that is donated with be going to charity! Every penny counts. If you would like to donate then please click on the link below and you can add you donation to this page. Thank you so much.

Along with our day to day activities at GiftsOnline4U we also do a number of fund raising activities too. The British Heart Foundation is a charity that means a lot to us.

Members from GiftsOnline4U.com along with www.touchofhealing.co.uk are trekking to the Himalayas in March 2011. The trek is going to be a fantastic challenge, here is some of the stuff we will be doing:

This exciting and challenging trek to Everest Base Camp gives the opportunity to fulfill a dream, while taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Himalayas.

We’ll then trek through the homelands of the Sherpa people, among their villages and monasteries, with distant views of Everest and Ama Dablam.

As we get closer to Everest Base Camp, we’ll summit Kala Pattar for the awe-inspiring views of the Khumbu Glacier, Nuptse and the south-west face of Everest itself.

Then it’s on to Everest Base Camp where we may even meet a summit expedition group!

If this isn’t enough, we’ll be joined by Doug Scott, the first Brit to summit Everest (pending good health and availability)

This is a truly spectacular trek that fulfills the dreams of many, you will need to train for at least six months prior to departure as this is a strenuous trek going to high altitude (5,623m).

So that’s the description of the trek! Though it sounds amazing in order to be able to take part in this event I need to raise £4000 for the British Heart Foundation… and that’s where you come in. Please show your support and sponsor me to do this trek for this fantastic cause!

But not only will the expedition be hard work so is the task of raising money for the BHF!

We’ve therefore got together and planned a number of different events; the first took place this weekend just gone at the Spalding Flower Parade. We set up a stall in a prominent place where many people who were going to watch the parade would pass, we had posters, banners and leaflets letting people know what we were doing. So all in all it was a great day. Lots of family came down to help us out as well.

May Day is the weekend of the Spalding Flower Parade which too seemed to be a great success. There were lots of visitors to the town and it looked like everyone was having fun!

I will regularly update you with news and information about our trek, such as our training schedule and fundraising. If you think that our cause is worthwhile then why not donate to us? Every penny counts and we appreciate all your help: you can either donate via our fundraising page based on “justgiving” – this company was founded in 1999, their dream was to enable any charity, however small, to use the web to raise money at very low cost. Almost no one believed it could be done. Nearly ten years later, they can proudly say they have become the leading online platform for charity giving, helping over 8,000 member charities raise more than £450 million.
