Champagne is a great drink and champagne gifts are great for all occasions. However champagne also makes a great cocktail! To some purists, the mixing of champagne with anything might seem unthinkable.
For cocktail lovers, champagne or sparkling wine becomes a choice ingredient with which to add other interesting flavours. Below are some tips on making the best champagne cocktails around:
Champagne Cocktail
Ingredients:
Angostura Bitters (4 drops)
Remy Martin VSOP Cognac (0.75 Measure)
Champagne (Top Up)
Sugar (1 cube)
You will need a champagne flute, there is no garnish and this has a medium difficulty rating.
To make this cocktail: Drip Angostura Bitters on the sugar cube and place in the bottom of the glass. Cover cube with Cognac, then top up with Champagne.
Raspberry Fizz
Ingredients:
Russian Standard Vodka (1 Measure)
De Kuyper Raspberry Liqueur (0.5 Measure)
Champagne (Top Up)
You will need a champagne flutes, garnish with a fresh raspberry floating in the cocktail. This has an easy difficulty rating.
To make this cocktail: Pour the Russian Standard Vodka and De Kuyper Raspberry Liqueur directly into a flute glass. Gently stir whilst topping up with Champagne.
Apricot Bubbly
Ingredients:
De Kuyper Apricot Liqueur (1 Measure)
Champagne (Top Up)
Orange Juice (1 Measure)
You will need a champagne flute, garnish with an apricot slice and this has a medium difficulty rating.
To make this cocktail: Build the drink by adding all ingredients to the glass one by one, Apricot Brandy first, then the Orange Juice, then the Champagne.
Mimosa
Ingredients:
Amaretto (0.5 Cup)
Champagne (99.99 ml)
Orange Juice (3 cups)
You will champagne flutes for this cocktail and garnish with a thinly sliced orange zest if desired. This has a medium difficulty rating.
To make this cocktail: Please note: The above quantities are sufficient for approximately 12 drinks.
In a pitcher, stir together the orange juice and Amaretto. Half fill each of 6 Champagne flutes with the Amaretto and orange juice blend. Top up with Champagne. Garnish with thinly sliced zest if desired.
The Bellini
Ingredients:
One third of a glass of peach puree or juice
Two thirds of Chilled champagne or sparkling wine
Use a champagne flute for this cocktail, it has a medium difficulty rating.
To make this cocktail you will need to: Muddle a whole peach (or skip this step and just pour peach juice in the the glass, tilt the glass and fill it with your champagne or sparkling wine and finally give it a stir with you bar spoon or any long thin object.
Kir Royale
De Kuyper Creme De Cassis (1 Measure)
Champagne (Top Up)
You will need a champagne flute, to garnish add a fresh blackberry/raspberry or a bright red cocktail cherry for a splash of colour! This has an easy difficulty rating.
To make this cocktail: Build the ingredients in the flute glass. Add the Champagne first and then slowly add the De Kuyper Crème De Cassis very slowly to achieve a “blush” colour or until it has the appearance of Rosé Champagne.
