Personalised Wine As A Father’s Day Gift

Father's Day Personalised Wine

Father's Day Personalised Wine

Why give a bottle of Personalised Wine as a Father’s Day Gift?

WineGifts4U.co.uk is the site that specialises in Wine Gifts. With Father’s Day coming up I thought it was about time I explained why I think you should give a bottle of personalised wine as a gift for Father’s Day.

Wine is a firm favourite amongst many (except those that don’t drink, obviously!) and thus it makes a great gift, I’ve attended many a dinner party and at each one the guests arrive with a bottle of wine as a gesture of gratitude for the invitation to the party. Personalised Wine has added value and sentimentality… you know why? It’s quite simple really, it’s the fact that you can personalise the bottle. WineGifts4U allows you to personalise a bottle of wine but uploading photos and graphics to the label and then adding text. You can do it all online and see exactly what you are personalising. Really simple and something wonderful is created. It takes a bit of time to create the exact label that you want, but that time and effort will be recognised and appreciated by the recipient.

I believe that personalised wine would be perfect for Father’s Day because what kind of gift would be better to give to give your dad than a gift that you’ve personalised, something that you’ve designed? If you choose one of favourite wines as well… then it’s highly unlikely that you can go wrong with this gift.

WineGifts4U have also got a lovely range of Father’s Day labels that they have designed especially for Father’s Day so if you aren’t feeling that creative you can choose from one of the labels and just personalise it by adding text to the label!

If you want personalised wine, but want to give something that extra bit special, then a bottle of engraved wine might just be what you are looking for. You can’t have images engraved onto the bottle, but engraved wine does look gorgeous!

Here are a few testimonials about personalised wine… not just related to Father’s Day, but they may give you an idea as to why people choose it:

Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day

Father’s Day Gifts

It’s nearly June, and therefore it’s that special time of the year again – Father’s Day. I’ve written a number of articles about Father’s Day and the kind of things that you can do to make your dad’s day as special as possible! Hopefully my dad won’t read this post… but here is what I have planned for him. My dad is really hard to buy for, so this year I decided that along side a Father’s Day Gifts, I was going to take him on a little outing! My dad is the kind of person who loves to be outdoors, so the perfect day out for him would be a trip to an adventure park or somewhere where you can be at one with nature. He also used to be in the RAF as well, he spends many a time reminiscing about the glory days and so I’ve decided to take him paint balling! My sister and I have put together this fantastic day out, we’re going to go for breakfast at a lovely little cafe in our town, then we’ll head off to the paint balling place where we’ll meet up with some other members of our family and then “wage war” … hopefully dad will be on the winning team… if not then tough luck! :)

After our outdoor antics, the plan is to freshen up and then head out for a hearty pub dinner! One of my dad’s favourites! He loves a traditional steak and ale pie, mash potatoes and gravy!

So that’s the day sorted out. He’ll get to spend time with his daughters, see some of his family, have a special activity organised just for him and be taken out to eat his favourite kind of food! What more could he want?!

Now onto the Father’s Day Gift. As I mentioned earlier my dad is really tough to buy for. He has everything he wants, and if he doesn’t then he’ll go out and buy it himself. Quite annoying when I have buy him a gift! As I’m completely lost. I want to give him something that he doesn’t have, something special and sentimental…. and that got me thinking, we’re going to go out for this special day out, arranged just for him. My dad doesn’t see us that often and therefore it would be wonderful to have all those memories available to hand whenever he wanted to see them. So I’m going to give him a photo album, you can get some really nice ones from places like W H Smiths. Alongside that I am also going to buy some disposable cameras and get him a photo processing voucher. Everyone will have a camera and will use them throughout the day, taking photos from different perspectives. My dad will then be able to get them processed and put them into his photo album. It’s a bit of a random present, but it’s something that he can keep for years to come and will help him remember what we got up to on Fathers Day 19th June 2011!

So that’s what I intend to do for Father’s Day. What about you? If you are stuck on Father’s Day Gift ideas, there are some wonderful gift ideas available here: www.winegifts4u.co.uk/fathers-day-gifts.htm

Father’s Day Gifts

It is not long to go till it’s Father’s Day. Some of your are probably thinking why are they talking about Father’s Day already, it’s over a month away, but time creeps up quickly these days and soon it’ll not be far off the day where you are handing your dad his Father’s Day Present while looking on his eagerly to see what he thinks. Father’s Day is a really special time of the year, just like Mother’s Day. Our dad’s probably spend a lot of time running about after us, doing our errands, making sure there is food on the table… and all those other things that we take for granted. It shouldn’t be that way, we shouldn’t need a day where we show our parents how much we love them… but sadly that’s the way of the world. So on this one day out of the year when it is all about our dad’s we really should show him how much we care and that we do appreciate all that he does for us, even if we don’t show it all the time. So it might be early but here is a little checklist to make sure you have everything in order this Father’s Day.

1) If you want to plan a day trip out this Father’s Day then try to plan something indoors and outdoors. You never know what the weather is going to be like (especially with British weather) so it is always good to have a mix of the two. Keep and eye on the weather and you can decide which event take dominance over the day. A lot of people will have the idea of a day trip out and about so you will need to book things in advance to make sure you get to do what you want to do.

2) If you have a number of brothers and sisters, co-ordinate with them to try and find out what they have planned for Father’s Day and what they want to do. Then incorporate a mix of the ideas into the day that you plan for your dad. If your siblings live far away, make sure that you tell them to make sure they get themselves to wherever your dad is on Father’s Day. Your dad has done plenty for you, the least you could do is take the day out of your life to make it all about your dad.

3) Find the perfect Father’s Day Gift. If your dad is anything like my dad he will be hard to buy for… my dad has everything that he could possibly want in the world and when he wants something he will go and buy it for himself! So think about his likes and dislikes, the gifts he’s already been given in the past and the fact that you would probably want to give him something unique and individual. There are a number of Father’s Day Gift ideas available on WineGifts4U… These are all unique personalised gifts, something that your dad has probably not recieved as a gift before.

Just three little things that you will need to remember this Father’s Day, but a little forward planning will help make the day run a bit smoother and also make your dad feel like he wasn’t an afterthought especially if you’ve put so much effort into making sure his day is as special as it can be.

Top 5 Ways To Surprise Dad on Fathers Day

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Worlds Best Daddy Chocolate BarIs your dad, or a dad you know always there for you when you need him, as well as when you don’t?!

I can 100% say that my dad is and although I know I should show him just how special he is to me very day of the year, but Father’s Day (3rd Sunday in June in the UK) is the perfect day to show him more than usual how special he is to me. When it comes to Fathers Day Gifts. I do not intend to opt for the easy options, by purchasing socks and ties for example, nope – instead I’m going to surprise him with the top 5 ways to surprise dad below, which includes some thoughtful ideas on making your dad, or a father you know feel great this Father’s Day.

My dad is nearly 50 and in his older age, he doesn’t eat as healthily as he should, in addition to this, he doesn’t do anywhere near as much exercise as he should either, especially when you consider the fact that he works in an office and sits on his bum all day!

1. Dad’s Breakfast
A great breakfast recipe for a Father’s Day Breakfast is the following recipe for Strawberry Pancakes.

Strawberry Pancakes Recipe

Makes 12-14
1.5 cups of plain flour
2 tablespoons castor sugar
2 teaspoons of baking powder
0.5 teaspoons salt
1 large egg
1 cup skimmed milk
2 cups sliced strawberries
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and milk in a mixing bowl. Crack the egg into a separate mixing bowl and beat. Add the beaten egg slowly into the large mixing bowl with the rest of the ingredients and stir for a couple more minutes until all the ingredients form a smooth mix.
Use a ladle to pour similar sized amounts onto a non-stick pan, move mixture around the pan until it forms 6-7cm diameter circle, wait until side is browned and flip over using a wooden spatula.

For the strawberry mixture slice 2 cups of strawberries adding your tablespoon of brown sugar. Place both ingredients into a pan and heat lightly for 3-4 minutes. Place strawberries over the pancakes and serve.
If you want that little extra touch to go with it, then a good bottle of Personalised Champagne for Father’s Day would be a unique way to complement this breakfast of strawberries and pancakes.

2. Dad’s First Present
Father’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a couple of gifts for dad. This is a list of unique ways to surprise your dad, so make sure that you think outside the box. It is always nice to have gifts which you and dad can share together, which would make the present even more special. You could organise an experience day out, for example paint balling, rock climbing, clay pigeon shooting or even a go karting day out. You could get a few family members or friends together, fight it out and make some great memories.

3. Dad’s Second Present
personalised whiskyThe first present idea is all about making memories, but the second present could be a personalised gift, such as a bottle of personalised whisky is one unique idea, especially if he drinks whisky! You can add your own message onto a label and attach it to a bottle of whisky. If you feel like going a bit further get a personalised wooden gift box customised with your own message too to present the bottle of whisky in. If your dad doesn’t drink whisky, there are plenty of other personalised Father’s Day gifts you can get him too – Personalised Father’s Day Retro Sweets if he has a sweet tooth. How about some personalised chocolate bars with a special message? These sweet gifts probably won’t last that long, but at least they will be enjoyed!

4. Dad’s Lunch
Generally, men like their food and we hope your dad does too. Hopefully he’ll still be pretty full after your Father’s Day breakfast, so make it a late lunch/early dinner. It’s always nice to go out for a meal with family, and Father’s Day is another good excuse. Obviously, you’ve got your top-end Michelin Star restaurants scattered around the country that you could treat him to, but if you are on more of a budget, then how about a trip to your local Harvester or Beefeater?

5. A Little Something to Get Dad into Shape after Father’s Day

So now that you’ve spoilt him rotten on Father’s Day, it might be a good idea to think of ways he can keep himself busy for the rest of the year. Get him a “free” 7 Day Pass to his local gym, make sure he goes and then get him to buy his own membership! If you want to give him an incentive to join up, a Personal Training session could help him to kick start a new lifestyle, and they don’t have to be too expensive either. Shop around for the best deal though.

Father’s Day doesn’t have to be about expensive Father’s Day Gifts or superficial gestures, it can be a day to spend quality time with your dad and show him just how much you care about him. Small gifts, free gifts and food will help create a special day.

Father’s Day Gifts

Father’s Day is just around the corner… in fact in the UK it is on the 19th June 2011. With the bank holiday just gone my dad and I spent a lot of time together and we started talking about gifts for dads. If you’ve read through this blog at all you’ll know that when I talk about my dad I say how hard he is to buy because he is one of these people that has everything and when he wants something he’ll just go and get it himself. He’s a content kind of guy. That’s all well and good, but it makes buying birthday presents, Christmas gifts and Father’s Day gifts really hard to find. I’m lucky as I work for a gift company so I have easy pickings, however for those people whose dad’s are like mine, what do they buy as a Father’s Day gift?

We’ve got together a range of different gift ideas to help you find what you are looking for:

1) My dad loves chocolate, I like to get him a few gifts on Father’s Day and I always get him a bar of chocolate or some chocolate covered brazil nuts because I know he loves them. But this year I am going to give him one of our personalised chocolate bar. These are a new gift on the site and really a simple idea that combines creativity and yummy taste! I think personalised chocolate makes a lovely small gift to give alongside something bigger. We’ve got loads of different personalised chocolates for you to choose from!

2) If your dad is like mine then he’ll like a drop of whisky every now and again. Why not give him something a bit extra special and give him either a bottle of personalised whisky which you’ve designed yourself or a bottle of engraved whisky (engraving always gives a gift a bit of a luxurious feel). I quite like the idea of giving personalised whisky though because I can upload photos of me and my dad onto the label and create a fun design…I’m kind of using the bottle as a photo frame. It’s a bit of a different idea.

3) As a businessman my dad is rarely seen without his suit. He has dozens and dozens of shirts and for each shirt he’s got a set of cufflinks. However I like the idea of giving my dad a set of engraved cufflinks, I know he’ll wear them reguarly and he’ll appreciate that as a gift because he’ll make use of them. He’s a practical kind of guy. He prefers it if you give him something that he’ll actually use, so a set of engraved cufflinks seems like the perfect gift to give as a Father’s Day Gift.

4) Dad’s are amazing… they look after you and protect you when you are young (in fact throughout your whole life) and so I believe it is important to celebrate who they are and make sure that you show them how much you love them! For me the best way to do that is with a bottle of champagne. Champagne is the drink of celebration and what better way to celebrate that with a bottle of bubbly! As with the whisky you could either choose from personalised champagne where you design the label of the champagne bottle or engraved champagne… I like the idea of personalised champagne though, I just think it’s a bit more ‘fun’.

Whatever you choose to give as a Father’s Day Gift, your dad is a special person and he deserves a gift that shows how special he is. Above are just a few ideas of what you could give your dad as a Father’s Day Gift. More are available here: //www.winegifts4u.co.uk/fathers-day-gifts.htm

Time To Start Thinking About Fathers Day Gifts

Father and Child Walking

Father and Child Walking

Father’s Day Gifts

Don’t forget that Father’s Day is on the 19th June 2011, it’s still a couple of months away but it’s perhaps time to start thinking about what you are going to give your dad as a Father’s Day Gifts.

Where would we be without our Father’s?! Our dads take us to football matches, gym practise, they teach us how to tie our shoe laces and so much more. Dad’s are something pretty special and Father’s Day is a really important day as it allows you to show your dad just how much you care. But remember you shouldn’t just pull out the stops on this one day out of the year… sometimes your dad needs to be spoiled just because.

Gifts For Father’s Day don’t have to be expensive, sometimes it is the most simplest of gifts that

Football Gifts

Football Gifts

make the most impact. Nowadays as well when gifts can often be seen as quite generic a personalised gift might have that extra special touch in comparison to other gifts. Now if I think about my dad and the kind of gift I want to get him… I get stuck. My dad is one of these people who isn’t very materialistic. He’d rather go out for a nice meal with his family and create some memories rather than recieve a gift. But I do like to get himself on Father’s Day. He buys me and my sister presents all the time so sometimes it’s nice to give him a gift, but it needs to be thoughtful and something that he wouldn’t expect. It’s at times like these where I do think giving a personalised gift is the only real option. My dad really enjoys football, in fact he is an avid Rangers Football Club fan. He just loves them. Therefore this Father’s Day I would probably get him a football gift with a Rangers theme to it. When choosing a gift for Father’s Day especially for a dad who is tough to buy for, you’ve got to think about their likes and dislikes. There is no point getting him a golf gift if your dad has no interest in golf. I know my dad enjoys football so a football gift seems like the perfect option for a Fathers Day Gift. A personalised gift has added value to it, it shows you’ve not only taken the time to find a gift but you’ve also taken the time to think of a special message to add to the gift – people appreciate a gift a whole lot more when they feel that a lot of time and effort as well as thought has gone into it. A personalised football gift seems like the perfect option for my dad, there is a great range of Rangers Gifts that I can choose from as well, these include personalised mugs, personalised wine, specialist Rangers photo frames with match programmes as well as personalised champagne.

So when you are looking for a Father’s Day Gift, think outside the box and go for a gift that he wouldn’t expect to recieve.

Celebrate Fathers Day With That Personal Touch

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

As a kid do you remember being carried on your dad’s shoulders or playing games with him? (One of my fondest memories of my and dad is one winter when it snowed heavily and while coming home from school we had a snowball fight). Have you got any special  memories growing up of the times he really made you laugh or gave you a great big surprise? – like say a new bike or tickets to go and see your favourite band? Celebrating the personal things; the memories and experiences you shared together and getting a bit sentimental is what Fathers Day gifts is all about. The purpose of a gift is to put a smile on someone’s face so it makes sense that it should be as personal as possible. The more personal a gift, the happier it should make the recipient! People like that personal touch when it comes to gifts.

Cherishable Items – those priceless and sentimental gifts.

You’re dad might be really hard to buy for. Some father’s are. Well I know mine is, I’m often left racking my brain trying to decide what to get him for Father’s Day. Do not get stuck trying to work out what to get your dad. If you think back to yesteryear when you were back in school, to the things that you probably took him home such as wonky clay sculptures and glitter covered paper (what use is glitter covered paper – but I’m sure your dad was so excited to receive it, because it was a gift from you!) you should already know or you will soon realise that what he wants more than anything is just to know you care, your dad will never ask you say thank you for the things he has done for you. After all that is his job, he is your dad, but sometimes I’m sure he’d like it to be acknowledged that he’s given up his weekends to drop you off and pick you up from football practice or ballet lessons.. It is the amount of effort you make and the amount of thought you put in to his gift that matters, not how expensive or impressive it might seem on the surface. The important thing is that you’ve thought about your dad and that’s all he cares about.

Fathers love items that say something personal just as much as mothers do. So when you write a card or gift tag, do not be afraid to tell him you care. He may act all macho but he is a big softy at heart.

Useful Gifts

Dads adore useful gifts such as personalised calendars and personalised mugs for Father’s Day Gifts because they serve a purpose. A card is nice but after it has been read and displayed then it is usually recycled! Mugs with his name on, personalised whisky bottles personalised with a message, or a personalised calendar that can remind him of important dates (such as your birthday!), are so much better than just a card. A card can be a great way to say you love him too however. So don’t forget the card when you are sorting out his present!

If your father is a workaholic and spends lots of time in the office, then help jazz it up with a load of gifts from you;  personalised gifts are a great option. Personalised prints look great pinned to a wall, personalised calendars can keep him organized and personalised mugs are essential for that daily cup of tea, however, there are other, classier sorts of personalised gifts too:

Engraved gifts

Engraved gifts are brilliant for dads because they are usually useful and if taken good care of last a lifetime. An engraved tankard or whiskey glass will remind him you love him every time he has his favorite drink, for example, whilst an engraved travel clock could wake him up on business trips. If his pockets are filled with spare changes and he sounds like a money box, then why not get him an engraved money box, it could be a wonderful gift and stop people from hearing him coming!

Do not forget that you can make your gift even more special by adding little details such as a note inside the cover of a book or a small comment on a gift tag. What you write inside a card can be as important as what he sees on the cover! My dad and have a special song; “Save the last dance for me” – it’s our father-daughter song. He had a gift made for me a while a go which said that on it. It’s possible my favourite gift he has ever given me. Simple yet so very sentimental.

If you want to get him something a little bit special then there is also personalised champagne, this is a simple yet stylish gift. It’ll also remind your dad of when you were younger and you used to make him a gift for Father’s Day. The idea of making a personalised champagne label seems pretty simple and it is. All you really need to do is upload a picture of you and your dad and then add a unique message. Kind of like the “Save the last dance for me” message that I mentioned above. If you don’t fancy being too creative and making your own personalised champagne label, then there is always the possibility of using one of our personalised champagne labels or even designing an engraved champagne gift. Those are my personal favourite, I just think they look amazing. So classy and beautiful.

I am also quite partial to engraved champagne flutes, I think they go perfectly with either a bottle of labelled personalised champagne or engraved champagne. You could get a bottle of brand champagne and not personalise it at all and then get a pair of engraved champagne flutes to complete the gift. They too are simple, yet I’m 100% your dad will LOVE them.

Choosing The Right Gift For Your Dad

Choosing Father’s Day Gifts comes down to several fundamental things, how much you want to spend, where your dad’s interests lie and the impression you want to make. The message which you want to give your father could be gratitude, love or even an apology (if you do not spend enough time with him, as is the case with this writer!) so make sure you work out how much you want to spend, what his hobbies or interests are and how you would like him to feel.

Then search for gifts that are in the right price range, connected to his interests and convey the right message. It is so much easier to search for gifts online than in real shops because you can narrow down your search with a few clicks. If you get stuck when you are trying to think of something to write in the card you might like to ask yourself some questions. What are you most grateful for this year? Dad’s Deserve Nice Presents Too!

Friday, May 21st, 2010

I was watching Sky Sports last night with my dad and the cricket match between West Indies V South Africa was on. We’re both very into our cricket so when the West Indies needed 3 runs to win from one ball, all we were doing was shouting “four… four… just hit a four” at the TV. It was all very tense… but then they only got one run and lost. We were saddened. Especially my dad who is a big West Indies fan. This got me thinking back to Father’s Day. An odd association perhaps but Father’s Day is just around the corner and I’m stuck on the kind of gift I should get him. While spending time with him (this is should be the case for any of you, when you spend time with your pops) I could get ideas of what he might want. So sitting watching the cricket was a perfect time for me to consider what to get him for Father’s Day. If I am going to buy him something then isn’t the best kind of gift something that he is interested in, and wouldn’t it be even better if I got him a gift where I could share it with him too. So not only is he getting a good gift for Father’s Day to show him how much I appreciate him, he’s also getting to spend time with his daughter. On the theme of cricket I’m guessing you already know what I am planning to get him….. if not, well… ‘tickets to a cricket match’. With summer well and truly here with this “week” of heat, I know there are going to be a number of matches available for us to go and watch.

I definitely think that if you are planning on getting a gift for your dad this Father’s Day then you should put some thought into it. Don’t just get him something because you know that you’re expected too… he’s not going to appreciate it. He’ll know you’ve put no effort into it. So what you should do is start thinking about Father’s Day early and actually get him something good.

If you are really stuck for an idea then why not give personalised champagne a go. I know I harp on about this particular gift, but that’s because I know whether you choose Design Your Own Champagne, Our Labelled Champagne or a bottle of engraved champagne you can be sure that this gift will be a hit. If you choose to design your own label then you can personalise the champagne with a photo of you and your dad. It could be a photo of anything. If I was designing the label then I would probably use a photo of me and my dad from an airshow. He used to be in the air force and he likes to take me along to the air shows and explain to me how aeroplanes work. So yes, that’s what you should do – pick a picture that has good memories and make something special with it, we all know what I’m going to recommend – personalised champagne.

If you decide that you do want a personalised champagne bottle then below are a couple of verses you could you:

He who is taught to live upon little owes more to his father’s wisdom than he who has a great deal left him does to his father’s care.
Fathers Day Quote by: William Penn

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.
Fathers Day Quote by: Charles Wadworth

Small boys become big men through the influence of big men who care about small boys.
Fathers Day Quote by: Unknown

Sherman made the terrible discovery that men make about their fathers sooner or later…
Fathers Day Quote by: Tom Wolfe, The Bonfire of the Vanities

When Charles first saw our child Mary, he said all the proper things for a new father. He looked upon the poor little red thing and blurted, “She’s more beautiful than the Brooklyn Bridge.”
Fathers Day Quote by: Helen Hayes

It is a wise father that knows his own child.
Fathers Day Quote by: William Shakespeare

The father who does not teach his son his duties is equally guilty with the son who neglects them.
Fathers Day Quote by: Confucius

Fathers, like mothers, are not born. Men grow into fathers and fathering is a very important stage in their development.
Fathers Day Quote by: David Gottesman

I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.
Fathers Day Quote by: Sigmund Freud

When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry.
Fathers Day Quote by: Jewish Proverb

I have never been a material girl. My father always told me never to love anything that cannot love you back.
Fathers Day Quote by: Imelda Marcos

You fathers will understand. You have a little girl. She looks up to you. You’re her oracle. You’re her hero. And then the day comes when she gets her first permanent wave and goes to her first real party, and from that day on, you’re in a constant state of panic.
Fathers Day Quote by: Stanley T. Banks in the movie ‘Father of the Bride’

There must always be a struggle between a father and son, while one aims at power and the other at independence.
Fathers Day Quote by: Samuel Johnson

My son, a perfect little boy of five years and three months, had ended his earthly life. You can never sympathize with me; you can never know how much of me such a young child can take away. A few weeks ago I accounted myself a very rich man, and now the poorest of all.
Fathers Day Quote by: Ralph Waldo Emerson, on the death of his son

A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child.
Fathers Day Quote by: Knights of Pythagoras

Dear Dad,
For you are the one,
For you are the one God counted on
For you are the one God counted on while sending me to this world
For you are the one God counted on while sending me to this world, for he
Knew I’ll always need someone to talk to when no one is there for me!
Love you dad!

Daddy,
We wish we could tell you Daddy,
that how much you mean to us….
We have no words to say about
how much we appreciate you…
how much we admire you…
how much we thank you
for everything you’ve done.
We love you so much Daddy…
Happy Father’s Day

My dad and I-we think alike,
He knows just what I mean
Before I even say a word
He reads well in between.

My dad and I-we like to fish
Or build a model plane,

Or fix a broken chair or two
Or just a windowpane.

My dad and I-we know the score
Of every single game;
Sometimes he’s really busy, too
But he takes me just the same.

My dad and I-we go swimming too,
Each year and sometimes twice.
My dad and I-we do everything,

My dad-he’s really nice.
Happy Father’s Day

So get thinking, you’ve got time, but make sure you make your dad feel special!

Blueberry muffin breakfast for Father's Day

Blueberry muffin breakfast for Father's Day

This year Father’s Day falls on the 20th June 2010. So there is just over a month to go before we need to start panicking about the gift that we are going to get our dads. But sometimes I feel that dad’s are a little overlooked. If you take Mother’s Day for example I always feel like people make more of a fuss on this day, like taking their mum out for a meal or to a spa. But what about our daddy’s? – how can we make them feel special on Father’s Day?

People often start their preparation of Father’s Day in advance. A lot of school help children make beautiful hand made cards with inspirational quotations to express their love towards their dearest dad. Older kids who live far from their parents often feel like spending that day with their dad. Hence, Father’s Day can also be termed as an occasion for reunion.

In this era of commercialization, Father’s Day has been commercialized to a large extent. Retailers who specialise in the gift market (sadly us included) start campaigning days before the commencement of Father’s Day often coming up with a range of Father’s Day specific gifts to help you decide what you should get your dad. The most advertised gift options includes greeting cards, neckties, tool kits and gourmet gift baskets. According to one camp of  people, commercialization of the day helps in spreading awareness about Father’s Day while some critics feel that extensive commercialization has made the celebration of this occasion a mere formality in many families.

Here are a few gift ideas for your Dad:

Trendy Dads - most kids don’t think their dad’s are trendy though, which is a shame.
If your dad is hip and happening and a guy who loves to carry the latest style statement, then a wonderful idea would be to gift him a pair of cool sunglasses – a pair of Oakley’s perhaps…. well I know my dad would like that, he’s majorly into skiing. He might have  some already but you can never have enough sunglasses and I’m sure he would welcome another pair with a warm smile, especially if they are the new pair for this season. Perfumes and Deodorants can also be given thought.

Sporty Dads - most dad’s like sports, whether it’s football or cricket… you’ll hit the jackpot with this kind of gift.
Sporty dads are going to love a Father’s Day gift that enhances their passion for fun and sports. Any gift that goes with his favourite sport is perfect. Golf, cricket or tennis set would be a nice idea. If he loves indoor games you may go in for premium chess or cards set or anything else like Dartboards or scrabble based on his choice. However if you are really generous then why not get him tickets to a game – tennis season starts soon… see if you can score a pair of tickets for Wimbledon?

Dads Who Love Books
If your dad loves to spend time in books there can be no better idea than to gift him a nice hard bound book, or perhaps a membership to a local book club. Keep your dad’s taste in mind when you are choosing a book for him though – remember he’s the one who is going to be reading it… On the occasion of Father’s Day you may also select books which reflect on the beautiful relationship shared between a father and a child.

Tech Savvy Dads
There are a lot of options in the market for dads who love to adopt latest and trendiest in technology – the new iPad has just come out! But if that is out of your price range then what about an iPod, or if he has one of those then maybe a docking station or something he could use to manage his music. On the higher end you may go in for camera, camcorders, lap tops and DVDs. Other ideas in this category include electronic shavers, massagers or exercise equipment. Though if he has a gym membership then don’t worry about the exercise equipment, he probably won’t use it.

Clothes and Accessories

These are traditional yet always appreciated. You may like to buy a formal shirt, a casual T-Shirt or a pair of trousers. Accessories that may be gifted on Father’s Day include belts, wallets, portfolio bags, cuff-links and of course ties!

Movie or Theatre Tickets

Book tickets for dad’s favourite movie with just mum or the whole family included. Alternatively you may get him a DVD of his favorite movies or albums. A picnic or a trip to amusement park can also work as a wonderful Father’s Day Gift Idea.

Unusual Gifts
If you want to try something a bit different then why not try a bottle of personalised champagne, it’s a simple yet unique gift that any dad would love. You can design your own champagne label with a picture of you and your dad or you could get a bottle of engraved champagne, with that you could write a special message that means something to you and your dad. For my birthday my dad had a photo frame made for me.. on it he had written “Save the Last Dance For Me” – that’s our song. So I know that if I got my dad personalised champagne he would be really pleased with it because he likes that sort of stuff.

So there are a few ideas about how you can make Father’s Day really special this year!
